# Upgrading Buildings Every building or facility on the farm has an upgrade option once reaching that point. Upgrades of buildings will always depend on the level of the [Headquarters ](/chapter-4-buildings-and-facilities/the-headquarters.md)and players will only be exposed to the ability to mint a building upgrade if they advance the farm's headquarters. Upgrading a building will cost [FW coins](/chapter-3-game-resources/fw-coins.md) and require a certain time to be built. The cost and duration depend on the building, [the army type](/chapter-2-the-army-types/the-army-types.md), and the level of the farm. **In some cases, the player must first mint an upgrade NFT.
